Vitivinicola de Ribeiro, PAZO

Vitivinicola de Ribeiro, was established in 1968 with the intent of focusing on native varietals of the Ribeiro region. 

Located in the northwest corner of Spain, Ribeiro means “riverside” in Galician, due to its location in the valleys formed by the rivers of Mino, Arnoia, Avia, and Barbantino. 

Not only does the region’s maritime location provides for wines of outstanding balance and acidity, the ocean facilitated easy transport all over Europe. 

In fact the Emperors of Rome have enjoyed the wines of Galicia since the 2^nd century BC!  If that’s not impressive enough for you, consider the fact that there is documented evidence that Ribeiro wines were shipped to America back in 1592!

This winery has put a dramatic focus on producing wines of clarity and regional identity, particularly focusing on the native Treixadura grape.   Treixadura is often used a blending grape for the more well known Albarino varietal.  However on its own it is a unique refreshing white wine.

The brand PAZO was first released in 1970 and has the honor of being the first Riberio wine bottled and labeled.   As such for the past 40 years PAZO is known and appreciated by lovers of great Ribeiro wine.  Crack a bottle and enjoy over 2000 years of refreshing history!
